I met Andrea a little over a year ago at the 2012 CrossFit Games and reconnected at this years Granite Games. It was great to watch her compete. Andrea is a fierce competitor with focus and intensity when the clock starts. As soon at the WOD is over she is cheering on the other competitors, which is the essence of what CrossFit is all about.
Andrea answered a few questions for me and now I’m passing it on to you. Enjoy!
Do you have a favorite CrossFit skill or WOD?
My favorite workout is Amanda! I love the short intense workouts, because those are the ones I need to work on the most. I like full snatches, rather than power snatches and trying to link together big sets of muscle ups!
What are your tips for recovery after a WOD?
Recovery: Very important! slowing down, and doing a small bit of a cool down instead of just lying on the floor is a good idea. Making yourself walk around or bike slowly or run slowly after a workout is a good way to avoid soreness. Drinking water and eating a small snack of veggies and a little meat right after a workout is key! You have that first 20 minutes where you body is just craving some fuel- don’t let it down!
What is one thing most people don’t know about you, that you are willing to share?
Something that most people don’t know about me: I was a complete tom-boy growing up. I only answered to “Andie” until high school, and I wore backwards hats and converse high tops the whole time. I think that’s where I get my “one of the guys” trend I find in my friend circles. It helped me play sports growing up!
