Aware of the Now: Your Present State of Awareness

Waterfalls outside Manaus, Brasil

Last night was another adventure in my crazy awesome life. I connected in the now. I was aware of where I was, who I was with and what we were saying. The night sky was clear. The moon was full and bright. I was in front of The Opera House in Manaus, Brasil. I couldn’t ask for a better place to be on a night like that. The connection between my mind and the world around me was strong.

Where am I going with this? Well, this morning I was reading an article in Paleo Magazine called “Your Life’s Purpose.” You can download the April/May issue for free if you go to the website. It’s an amazing magazing on our crossfit paleo lifestyle. I’m planning on getting a subscription. Anyway, the article discusses topics from an author I really like, Eckhart Tolle. He talks about being in the present as our primary purpose in life. Our goals for the future and reflecting on the past are a secondary purpose. I completely agree with this idea and I do my best to follow it. I believe it helps us appreciate the good in our lives whether it’s our relationships, the food we put in our body or our own emotion.

A couple of days ago I put time into goals for the future. Secondary goals are important because it helps you create the life you want to live.

Here are some of mine:

Health-  Place higher in the CrossFit Open than 2013. Not only eat more Paleo but educate and share it with others.

Travel– Clinic Abroad to Salvador, Brasil in October educating chiropractic students.

Business– Give more chiropractors the ability to have more time away from their office.

Relationships– Surround myself with positive friends who share similar beliefs.

Financial– Start saving money for all the awesome adventures I want to go on!

Enjoy your life and appreciate what you have now.
